Almost all UAVs currently have the same structure, using fan-blade propellers. This kind of drone has a fatal shortcoming that if the fan blade touches other objects, it may be damaged or crashed instantly. A student from RCA, Marcus Kung, made an innovative design for this pain point and developed a fanless drone model.
In fact, the principle of this innovative UAV is very simple. It uses four turbofans to push the air at high speeds to form thrust. The principle is similar to that of a jet airplane. Of course, although this design can avoid the embarrassment of traditional drones, the high-speed turbofan is noisy, and it can be considered a small sacrifice for safety.
