Dortmund, Germany, Al Summers Company (elmos) today announced automotive-grade dual-chip antenna power protection in a compact package. The chip provides electrostatic protection (ESD protection) for the antenna system and short-circuit protection of the power supply to the ground/battery, while the chip has overheat protection. The I2C bus interface makes it easy to address multiple different devices through two data lines. The chip is available in a QFN20L5 package. The chip can be used in antenna applications with input voltages from 4.5V to 25V. The chip divides the voltage at the output through a resistor and then feeds it back into the chip for adjustment. It can independently output two power supplies, ranging from 3.3V to VBat.
With the QFN package, the chip size can be made small, but with comprehensive diagnostic capabilities. Because it uses an I2C interface and an 8-bit ADC, it can monitor the output voltage and current in real time. At the same time, it can set the threshold of overvoltage and undervoltage separately for each output channel, and also according to the actual needs of the user, it will automatically shut down when the above fault is detected.
The analog sensor at the input can also be used in conjunction with a programmable digital output to monitor the third antenna power circuit or other functions.

Through the resistor divider sampling, the programmable output voltage range is 3.3V ~ VBAT, with programmable soft start function;
Up to 200mA load current for programming overcurrent and open current thresholds;
Output over-voltage/under-voltage protection, over-temperature and over-current, open-circuit protection for the input power supply, and output a fault indication signal when protection occurs;
Controls the output of an external bipolar NPN transistor to reduce power consumption;
Integrated I2C digital interface for programmable voltage and current protection amplitudes;
The control interface contains a digital comparator that can be used for other functions;
The 8-bit fast ADC captures the associated system voltage and current.
